I wrote this in 1999 while traveling as an Evangelist for the ALJC. This was my first published work, for the UPCI publication in the Indiana District. I hope you enjoy it, Pastor Nick
1 Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. (KJV)

Want to preach better, teach more converting bible studies and lead with the same passion as Jesus Christ? Would you like to see your family in church and your friends saved? What if you could turn your everyday conversations into a full- time ministry? Do you want to be more effective in your ministry? If you do, you need to be anointed.
God has given us an instructive blessing from heaven called the Anointing. We received it from Him, (Christ) who abides in us. True Apostolic Pentecostals have an inward confirmation of the divine truth they have imbibed or swal- lowed. We have a greater under- standing of God's purpose, will and plan for falling humanity. It is vitally imperative that we understand that we have been anointed to preach the gospel to the poor, heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, and to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord. Why has God chosen us? We can complicate it or just make it simple. He picked us because he knows that we have the ability to perform His perfect will. I am anointed at all times. You are anointed at all times. I attend college at Kent State University. As I walk the Halls of the Godless campus, God anoints me. When I go to the mall, God anoints me. When I am driving my car, God anoints me. Everywhere that I walk I am anointed. I have His blood on me. In other words, I am marked by God. I preach four or five times a week, but I am not just anointed when I preach. In fact, I am more anointed outside of the pulpit than in the pulpit. Pulpit ministry for me is only about 15% of my ministry. I have faith that when I speak, God has anointed my every word.
What is the Anointing?
I will tell you what it is not. It is not just goose bumps. It is not to make a name for yourself. It is not yelling and sweat! It is not just for pulpit ministries. The anointing is durable and lasting oil. It is not so soon dried up. It abideth in you. The anointing is a divine illumination, and it must be something continued or constant. Temptations, snares, and seductions will arise, but the anointing must abide.
The anointing is better than human instruction, "And you need not that any man teach you," Not that this anointing will teach you without the appointed ministry. It could, if God so pleased; but it will not, though it will teach you better than any man can. You need not that any man teach you. The divine unction does not supersede ministerial teaching, but surmount it. It is a sure evidence of truth, and all that it teaches is infallible truth: But as the same anointing teacheth you of all things and is truth, and is no lie. The instruction and illumination that Christ affords must be in and of the truth. The Spirit of truth will not lie; and it teacheth all things, that is, all things in the present dispensation, all things necessary to our knowledge of God in Christ, and the glory in the gospel. The Anointing is of a conservative influence; it will preserve those in whom it abides against seducers and their seduction.
